Milling a profile on HAAS Mill/Turn ST-30Y, tool angle incorrect (HSMWORKS ULT)

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to mill the contour around this entire tube on my HAAS ST-30y mill/turn machine, programmed using HSM works. I'm trying to cut a slot out of an 8" tube so I'm only left with the part seen below. I want to take a 1/8" endmill and run it along the contour, perpendicular to the tube the entire time so that I can get a clean cut. E

very time I try to program this using a 2d contour, 3d contour, or flow function I can never get the tool to ride along the groove smoothly and the tool turns unpredictably.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi @Anonymous , there might be a better way, but the only way I know is to use 3-D contour with axis substitution. I have only played with this operation on the screen, never actually cut a part. I attached a file for you to check out.
