Just noticed that selecting the stock contour and boundary like the file above means you don't get a helical lead in. One workaround is to unselect the stock boundary and let it plunge outside the stock like this.

Mark

Hi everyone,

I'm fairly new to fusion 360 (3D in general, and CAM in particular), so this may sound obvious to some of you, but I'm stuck...

I got a warning "No passes to link" "Empty tool path" when trying to generate a 3D Ramp for my model.

I use a 3mm flat end mil.

Also, I plan to use Acrylic and Shopbot, so any insights on tool configuration would be highly appreciated!

I don't know how to share my design using this forum, but I could share the design directly with Fusion360.

Thanks for your help! 🙂

The first problem is you've selected the stock as the Model. The Model should be the part you want to machine and it is very important to always select the body you want to machine in an assembly. You can select a body as stock on the Stock tab under Mode - From Solid. Fixing those 2 things makes it work. Not sure ramp is the best toolpath though, you might be better of with parallel using a ball nosed cutter.

Mark

Awesome! It did the trick ;D Thank you.

I don't have any ball nosed cutter right now, so I'm trying to get the best result with a flat one.

1) Do you know why, when I setup a maximum stepdown to 0.1mm for the ramp operation with the flat cutter, I got 4 material collisions with stock? Are these collisions a bad thing or could I ignore them? Living it with default 1mm solves collisions, but the result is smoother with 0.1mm

2) For the training, it tried to use the parallel toolpath with ball nosed cutter, but I don't know how to select the specific area of work for my ramps, and not the entire piece. Should I modify the design (add a mesh or something) to select this specific area?

Thank you for your help!

Here's an updated file using a 2d contour and a ball nosed cutter. I've edited the first pocket so it open and used stock contour as a restriction so the slot is fully machined.

Mark
