Changing Computers

Got a new to me computer to switch to (more RAM, better GPU, better CPU, etc) but unsure of how licensing is structured right now. I tried deactivating the license (Autodesk HSMWorks Professional 2016 License) and got a little window with the serial number that says 'License Transfer is not supported'.

Can I just install it on the other computer and input the key that I was sent via our reseller?

Hi @Steinwerks,

Yes, they probably sent you can activation code for the new computer. You should be good to use it.

I disagree. If it isn't deactivated it probably won't activate on the new machine.

That's what I am concerned about. I will try it through the SW CAM dialogue tomorrow.

Are you using the old HSMWorks license or the new Autodesk license?

I'm not sure if you can.

Did you activate your pc only or is it network licensed?

Then did you give it a file or just numbers?

If it's juts numbers was it 1 string of numbers or was it something with a serial number and a product key?

Activation was a key number, not a file. Not a network license either. I don't remember if it was a key and a serial or just the key. I do know there's a serial number. I will check the email our reseller sent tomorrow.

Well I got the activation email from Autodesk directly with this info:

Can't remember what the activation asked for. I'm calling our reseller now though to get it sorted.

With that you can activate on your new pc without a problem.

The old PC will almost certanly have used the "old" HSMWorks license and therefor the new one will be able to activate without a problem.

Ok good. This IS the "old pc" though. We only bought HSMWorks in February, before that I was getting by with HSMXpress and my own Fusion license when I needed 3D (also to convince them it was worth having).
