I am not 100% sure I am in the right spot to post this. I am using Fusion 360 and HSM.

Anyhow I have turned on the preview for tool orientation and noticed that after I rotate the orientation, the info tab doesn't report correctly. As can be seen in these photos the Z is showing different values, but the tool is at the same height.

Thank you for the reply. I have attached the part. I am well aware of the issues in the toolpaths. I am trying to push the limits of my machines capacity.

Anyhow if you simulate Adaptive 45 and drag the slider until the tool is on a long yellow clearance run, and look at the Info tab, the Z value will change as you move it along that path. Hope I am explaining it well enough.

the coordinates are only right without coordinate transformation. if one axis is rotated you will need machineconfig to show the right values, thats only available after posting.

I understand that, but to me it seems that the info tab should be aware of the rotation and show the proper information. If it can translate the values when it posts, it should be able to translate them in the info tab.... no?

As an aside I do not see any discrepancy in the simulation as far as I can tell.

There are of course many, many rapid linking moves and I'm having trouble following them all in a timely fashion, but I don't see any above 2.2" on the coordinates displayed.

I also noticed that the stock isn't defined uniformly across both setups (IE they both have Z offsets which will make them not match once the part is rotated.

Is this on a 4th axis? Tool Orientation would be much more suited working in a single setup.

Hi Steinwerks.

If you have the Info tab open, and slide the slider when the tool is fully retracted crossing the part, you don't see an Z movement on the Info display?

Yes this is a 4th Axis.

By tool orientation, are you talking about separate setups for each rotation? The problem with that is you can't see the final product. Most of the things I am trying to make on the 4th axis are pretty hard to get into every crevice and machine. On this one I am having to suck the bit up into the chuck farther than I like just to clear the stock. I also have to go through and edit the post and lower everything above 2.7" Which brings up another question, is there a way to make it honor the clearance planes I set up without it lifting them to a "Safe" distance?

I just ran the roughing and everything matched up within sandpaper tolerances <G> I am not sure I understand what you saying about the Z offsets. I will have to take a look and see if I can see what you mean, while I try to figure out how to do finish passes and get it to touch all the lows without hitting the highs <g>
