I am making a ring that is roughly 19 mm inside diameter and about 10 mm wide. it will be a flat surface.

Have have a VF fourth axis machine to use for the manufacturing of it.

My problem is that i want to engrave a name on the outside surface of the ring but i have little experience with using HSM works to generate tool paths.

i created the model in solid works and then used the text and wrap option to put the text on the ring.

Now I just need some help on how to properly machine the engraving into the ring. I attached a screenshot of the model, but i would like to know how to make it work in all text situations so that i can change styles and whatnot.

Any help is much appreciated!

thanks Matt

This totally depends on how you would want the letters to be cut out.
