Can't get STL stock to function. Inventor can't remember stock selected

STL stock is constrained to model. Select STL for "from solid" ( I don't see a surface or stl selection). It "seems" to accept the STL. When I try to use adaptive, I get no results. Go back to setup, and the stock selection is missing again. Is there a tool to convert the stl to soild or something it can remember ?.

Hi @Bartlett-Pentagon,

you can check this:

If you select the STL - the mesh should be "clicked" in the Model browser.

But I think you problem is another... are you working in an assembly? In many cases the CAM lose the connection to Models or Stock if you turn off the visibility of the Bodys/Parts. Work with an IPT and not with IAM otherwise you risk to loose some connections 😞

I don't have that option in the stock tab.

I'm assembly machining ( two parts in a single piece of stock).

How do I enable "from preceding setup". that would solve the issue I think.

"From solid" and then select the Mesh ...

in 2022 working with assembly was not possible because the mesh is just applied if the mesh is visible. If you change the visibility then IVCAM "forget" the Stock. Just try it wth 2023.
