I'd like to add Rapid Linear X & Y to the Rotary Axis Initial move line...

On my 5 axis Router, at Tool Start up, when using Tilted work Plane I'll get an overtravel alarm depending on where the machine is starting from. The solution I have found in testing by edited G-Code, is to add Rapid X & Y to the same Rotary Axis Initial move line. See on the right below at Line 18...

The corresponding Post Line is on the left see Line 928.

I need to add xOutput.format(initialPosition.x), yOutput.format(initialPosition.y) to get Rapid X & Y on the same line as B Rotary & C Rotary move. But adding these codes after Line 928 do not work...

Any suggestions?

BTW, this is the standard Fanuc Post and using a 5 axis Router machine to get 5 axis output...

getFramePosition() : Returns the specified section position in the current frame specified using setRotation() and setTranslation().

getFramePosition gives the section position after the rotation matrix . For Example, if you want the initial coordinate potion of the toolpath in A30, then the coordinate/direction needs to be compensated for the XYZ this getFramePostion will return the vector with all this applied direction and coordinate.

You might have one more question, Why do we need getFramePosition() for 3 Axis posts and 3 Axis machining?

This is a standard way of defining code. Suppose that in the future, if the right angle head is supported, then we only need to change the direction of the axis of the spindle. We don't need to worry about XYZ coordinates. Also when people take 3 axis post to convert 5 axis it should be easy for them.

currentSection : The current section. This property is unspecified outside onSection() and onSectionEnd() invocations.

getInitialPosition() : Returns the initial position for the section.

This code:

getInitialPosition()

occurs a bunch of times in this "Fanuc Post".

I need to just add the "Current X & Y positions" to the "Initial Rotary Axis Angle" line of G-Code.

Is this possible?

After adding the variable in the function(Which I mentioned in previous post) , add the X & Y format as shown below.

I added these commands:

along with your other suggestions on adding Variable: getInitialPosition()

to the two areas you indicated. No Change to the output.

Any other suggestions?

I did add the:

at the following area:

But, only in the writeBlock(

areas, not in the error(

areas. Or, should I add the xOutput... in the "error("

areas too?

Hi @Anonymous ,

I made further modification in the post and generated the attached (1001.nc)NC output.
I feel that the N295 is not a safe move. We should Cancel the Tool Length Compensation (G49) first and then take the Initial position of the Rotary and XY axis.

Please let me the NC format for Multiaxis and 2D toolpaths. Based on that I will try to provide best possible solution.

I changed to G20 (inch) and ran your nc file. I video taped the machine running the program. I can send it to you if you have a file sharing option for me to use. The movie file is 213Mb which is too big to send over email...

But the machine has no issues with running this program.

Is there anything else I should be aware of before asking you for your improved (safer) Post edit?

Thanks for the test. I just wanted to check if you're getting an axis limit or not.

Now Just Follow the following steps.

1) Download the latest Fanuc post (V43336) from here.

2) Do the same steps which I mentioned before and You did : Add variable and add XY positions

3) Find setWorkPlane(new Vector(0, 0, 0)); and replace it to following ways. (Two places : onclose & onSection)

If you want to force B0 C0 then use line 3151 code and ignore/comment 3152 to 3158 lines code.

Save the post modification and test it.

I have made all the edits you indicated. Tested the post, and so far it all looks good.

The Rotary Axis Line of code has the X & Y "Initial Positions" which prevents overtravel if "Tilted Work Plane" is used.

This is a Head/Head 5 axis router.

I also could not use the standard output at Tool Start Up of Rapid X Y and G43 code along with Z on one line.

So I had to re-arrange when the G43 & Z & H#, is output onto the next line. I hope that change does not create any un-intended consequences...

I am also trying to figure out why I am not getting TCP output. I do have the setting chosen in the "Machine Configuration", any ideas on this? I did change the "tcpIsSupported = false" to true in the Post as well, but no change to the output...

On this machine, I get an alarm at Tool Start Up if Rapid motion in X Y and Z are on the same line. So I have to separate the:

G0 X# Y#;

G43 Z# H# (Cannot be on previous line)

So, I changed the post (see Image below, Left side is original Fanuc.cps, Right side in my edit)

Has this unintended consequence eliminated my TCP?

Is there another way to get G43 Z# H# on the next line of the output?

I think your controller is configured this way. May be controller parameter needs to be changed.

For Now, try with this method.

Before the XY positions, Call TCP with Z and Length compensation code.

N50 G00 X5.629 Y0.646 B-9.262 C-7.338 N55 M08 N60 G00 G43.4 Z15. H02 N65 X5.629 Y0.646 N70 G00 B-9.262 C-7.338

I re-arranged the code to get G0 G43 Z# H# before:

X# Y#

No change to the G43 line, I still only get G43 and not G43.4

Is this output affected by the Machine Configuration?

TCP setting: "On"
