Anyone have Post for Leadwell V40iT w/ Fanuc Oi-MD Control?

Just purchased Fusion 360 Ultimate and I'm trying to get some of those new multi-axis operations that come with it to work with our two v40iT's.

The Generic Fanuc should run just fine on those.

You would have to tell the post the kinematics of the machine, though.

By default these post are set-up to use fanuc's multi-axis features like G68.2 if your machine don't have these features we will have to change a setting in the post.

Thanks for the info, I'm going to try this out after break and see if I can't get it to work. First I need to find out if our machine supports G68.2

I'm getting this error message when trying to use the new swarf toolpath with the generic fanuc post. I've set the A & C axis from false to true in the post. This is what I get.

Error: Failed to invoke function 'onRewindMachine'.

I assume I need to tweak something else in the post as well?

Yes, that's probably the first thing to to.

Look for the options TCP and Tilted Working Plane.

TCP is 5-axis simultaneous, Tilted Working Plane is 3+2.

I only see tilted work plane in the documentation. So I assume that means no swarf then?

Had some free time today, so I decided to see if I can't get this working. I ran a simple operation.

Here is the setup:

Here is the operation:

It's a 2" Cube. I set G54 to the back center of part, Z0 on top of PC as shown in first image. I then created an operation to mill the 45° chamfer. I used tool orientation to setup rotation.

When I first ran it, the table did not tilt. I added P1 after the G68.2 and that fixed that issue.

But, something is definitely still off. The tool started way out in front and way off to the left of the part. It should have started to the right of the part as shown in image two.

Any thoughts on this?

Well I think the 0i-MD doesn't do 5-axis simultaneous if I do some googling.

But the 3+2 with tilted work plane is a plus. I'm pretty sure this means we can actually place your workoffset anywhere you want and use the G68.2 code.

So if you set up the correct machine configuration you should be able to try out the the code on your machine.

Do you have a good relationship with the dealer?

I believe so, We've purchased four of these from them in the last 3 or so years. I never deal with them myself though.

Might be good to ask them about this.

Since I'm pretty sure the code is correct, but I'm not sure if they set-up the machine correctly for it.

They can probably also tell us what is wrong when the code does turn out to be wrong.
