Nice I am about to do something similar. I am just concerned about the axis offsets when rotated. I am not sure if linuxcnc should handle that or if fusion should. Would you know anything about that ?

I just added both an A and a C axis to my milling machine and I want to experiment with Fusion 360 and 5-Axis machining. I followed the online instructions as best I could... and I really think I am close.

When I run the attached... it fails with the following message...

Warning: Work offset has not been specified. Using G54 as WCS.

###############################################################################
Error: This post configuration has not been customized for 5-axis simultaneous toolpath.
Error at line: 1103
Error in operation: 'Multi-Axis Contour3'
Failed while processing onRapid5D() for record 310.
###############################################################################

Error: Failed to execute configuration.
Stop time: Monday, June 03, 2019 4:50:22 AM
Post processing failed.

Can someone figure out the missing/incorrect line to remedy this? Once it operates... I'm pretty sure i can figure out the finer tweaks... but this has me stopped cold.

Having it use G54 is fine... it's what I always use anyway... and I can always hand-code a change if needed.

Thanks,

Jerry

Can anyone help me?

No replies in 3 weeks... I'm sure somebody here has done 5-Axis processing before... maybe offer a working post processor that i can "tweek" or at least compare to what I uploaded to find the glitch????

Hi @Anonymous ,

Thanks for posting!

I noticed from the supplied post that you have not activated the machine configuration you set.

If you change the if(false) to if(true) from line number 194 you can get the 5 axis codes output as per set configuration.

Please refer the below image:

Kindly check and let me know if you have any query.

Thanks!

Good morning all,
I've been trying to configure the "Linuxcnc" post processor for my machine for 3 months.
I followed all instructions to the letter. The "G" code comes out perfectly in 3 axes,
5 axes positioned, but the travel is inconsistent for the 5 axes simultaneously. Can you help me please?
thank you very much

How did this work out for you ? Were you able to get fusion to account for axis offsets ?

Yes, the code worked as expected. Unfortunately, I had not considered that when the piece rotated 90 degrees, it would be about 6.5 inches from the head. And this mill has a max Z of 6 inches. Phooey. I'll have to eventually add a second Z-Axis with 12-inch travel to use this properly. Additionally, Fusion changed the free version and for an experimenter the cost per month is prohibitive. (I only get to play with my mill about 1 week per month due to work.)

Hello, I am from pakistan. I have to make 5-axis Simultaneous CNC machine using Respbarry Pi (Linux CNC), Messa (7C81) and Breakout board in Final year poject. Have anyone done on it? if yes please guide me the process and difficulties you faced during completing this project. Also Can anyone tell me that is Linux CNC support 5axis simultaneous or can we run 5-axis simulatneous cnc machine?
