This search functionality is garbage.

Where do I find the idea station for Fusion Teams so I can suggest better search functionality?

Hello Users,

Apologies for delayed response.

We can understand your pain of not getting the desired result for search.

I am happy to inform you that all of your searching issues are now resolved through Fusion HomeTab. You can access hometab by clicking the small "home" icon on the Fusion desktop just beside undo/redo button.

This search has great capabilities. You can search basis on internal component name or part number or simply search for your design file or drawing by its name.

Let us know if you need any help in accessing HomeTab.

It is still absolutely horrible. You can be looking at a file in a project, search the exact name and it wil be "not found" one of the of the worst search functions I've ever seen.

How can a company with a networth of 68 billion USD have such a useless function in one of their programs?

PLEASE FIX THIS.

Can you please confirm which Fusion build you are using? Also if you can share a demo recording or the log files of the issue you are facing it will help us to diagnose better.

Hometab search is very well equipped in finding the results based on partial name or exact name match and this functionality is present from quite a long time.

Recently, in Fusion's November release we have enhanced the search to allow users to search basis on component name and part number.

Thank you for the video. There is no home tab in my fusion installation. In preferences 'General' there is a greyed out checkbox 'Show Home tab at startup'. Mouse over pops up a text '.. progressively being made available to customers'. I am on a paid subscription. When will this be available?

Unfortunately the search button on the top in the data panel misses a lot of search results. Example with searchword 'foo':

- gets results if filename ist 'FOO', 'FOO...', 'ABCDE FOO...', 'FOO ABCDE'.

- but no results if filename is '...FOO', 'ABCDE_FOO', ABCDE ...FOO'.

So it needs to find a space character in front of the search word, or search word is at the first character position in filename, otherwise no results.

Why is this still a thing?

I'm not sure how, but yes, I would like Autodesk to investigate why I can't find my parts. Yesterday I remodeled a part because the search function could not find the part that I searched for with an exact name. I then found the original part in a different assembly, and now I have 2 of the identical parts with the same name. I assume you can look at the assets on my account, but I am willing to help however you need. At this point, it's wasting time and money.

I had a meeting with Autodesk pretty recently about this. I shared my screen showing how poorly the search was working for multiple parts. I then submitted the requested sample files to them and haven't heard back yet. That was months ago. There is no solution besides using the separate home tab search to find the part. That only finds the part, you can't use that home search result to insert the part into your working file. I have no idea why that home tab search cannot be integrated into the regular search function. Truly infuriating. Keep taking our money and not fixing an obvious problem. It has been YEARS.
