OK, was hoping the new "straighten" feature would help with this but it doesn't seem to function sensibly?

how do I get these bubbled out edges to go reasonably straight? basically I'd think click the 2 points, hit straighten and the line between the 2 would, ya know straighten...? referencing something else in the model makes no sense to me as I don't have anything else near to reference.... If I had control arms like with curve in a drawing that would at least make it reasonable? I'm lost and pretty sure there is a way but searching for days now finding nothing 😕

can you share the model here? Straighten will only act on the control frame for the T-Spline (box mode). You may need to select more vertices to include in the straighten command to get the desired effect, or to insert edges to get more topology, or maybe modify the tangent handles in Edit Form (use Vertex mode to see and modify the tangent handles) to get edges that are more linear.

can't share the model as it's attached. to someone else's model/property. but pretty much any basic model does that.

OK, anytime you "Crease" an edge, it arcs. which is OK at first, but there is no way to straighten it, and honestly, a ceased edge should be able to be straighten to a direct line for point to point. can't even use control handles like in vertex modeling to control the arc, it just kinda does what ever and you have no control over it.

https://a360.co/2JlbpL2

That link is not marked to allow download. This seems to be a much different case, though, as the model is closed, and the one in your post has open edges (Tangent handles are only available on open edges). But, to some extent, this is probably just a byproduct of the math around creasing in T-Splines. This is getting to the limits of my knowledge in this area, but the math around "partial creased edges" like this can definitely be tricky. They have to blend into the normal uncreased edges, and so the overshoot can cause some. Sometimes you'll need to add more edges into the model to help smooth out the transition. In general in T-Splines, the more edges you have the more you'll be able to get an edge to be straight.

I don't think that any creased edge results in a curve. It seems to have a lot to do with what's going on around it. Here is a box that I've removed one side from then partially creased one edge:

Trivial case, I know. Then, I scaled one of the faces, which does introduce some curve into the creased edge:

inserting a set of edges allows the curvature to be transitioned in a smaller space, and leaves the one edge pretty straight:

Not saying for sure that this will help in your case, but it's worth trying

SO I guess the new restriction make someone using the hobby license means we can't down load to help people ☹️.

Both models are closed... and actually what you are doing is with an open item.. if you close it, them crease, it'll arc, and I can't find a way to correct that arc... no way to get vertice handles that I can see? I'm guessing there is something I'm missing, but damned if I can find it!

Thanks foryour time and trying to help by the way. 🙂

I'm fairly certain that the Personal license allows download, you just have to make sure that the "allow download" item is checked on the Share Public link dialog:

You can also export as F3D and attach the result to a post.

I apologize - I did not see that your example was closed. So, here is one that is somewhat similar, but simple:

and yes, you can see some curvature in the partial edges. That is partly because the box-mode scaffolding (which is what is revealed when you crease) is a bit larger than the smooth mode edge. But, you can make the result more straight by adding an extra set of edges:

not certain that will help in your case, but it might.

first off, tried adding edges, improves it, but far from what it feels like it should be able to do.

2nd- free can share, but I can't allow downloading.. I click on "allow download" and it gives me the "must pay" message. I get all the stuff AutoDesk has done to get pros using the free version to pay, but this one is kinda stopping simple help functions like we're trying to do here. I do get why they blocked it from the free version.. just don't think they thought it all the way thru, or maybe instead of blocking at my end, but block those downloading to only those who pay? no clue but in this case it's just annoying. Oh well.
