Fusion360 v2.0.8809
macOS v10.13.6

When using the ARRANGE feature, I am unable to select more than 1-Object (body) which defeats the entire purpose of using the ARRANGE feature for layouts.

The Shift or Command key has no effect when selecting objects in the ARRANGE feature as only 1-Object (body) can be selected.

If multiple Objects (bodies) are selected prior to initiating the ARRANGE feature, then the ARRANGE feature changes the selection to only 1-Object (body) selected when the ARRANGE dialog box appears. No more than 1-Object (body) can be selected.

There is no “Type” select option in the ARRANGE dialog box. I am selecting Body types for the Objects. Oddly it will allow the selection of 1-Body and 1-Sketch for 2-Objects selected, but not more than 1-body.

Yes, that makes complete sense! That said, it seems counter-intuitive that the ARRANGE function allowed me to select a Body and/or a Sketch object, if it only works with Component objects. Converting Bodies to Components resolved the issue. THANKS!

FEEDBACK to Autodesk:

a) Need to clearly communicate that the ARRANGE feature only works with Component objects if that is in fact the case.

b) Given "a)" above, need to code the ARRANGE feature to not allow the selection of Body and/or Sketch objects, and provide error messaging feedback that these object types cannot be selected and that a Component type object must be used with the ARRANGE feature.

@Fusion360Hodad ,

thanks for your feedback, I understand your point about Body v.s. Component, which sometimes did have confusion.

you're right, Arrange based on Component, but in fact the selected object is body or sketch inside Component.

here we didn't filter out body level, because the case for one component with multi-bodies(for example, body A, body B, and bodyC), just select component couldn't meet the requirement if user wants to Arrange bodyC; select component will arrange the 1st body(body A) by default;

hope it helps.

I might not explain clearly. attach a snapshot

when do Arrange, select object, if selected component have more than one body, user has the ability to switch body as they wish, either body inside component(but only one body inside one component) could be selected to do Arrange. that's the reason we didn't filter out body selection when using Arrange command, although the selection is based on Component level.

This is to explain per your feedback:

b) Given "a)" above, need to code the ARRANGE feature to not allow the selection of Body and/or Sketch objects, and provide error messaging feedback that these object types cannot be selected and that a Component type object must be used with the ARRANGE feature.
