I just cant for the life of me use the screencast function here on the forum. So i'll try in this comment
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/screencast/ce653128-8131-4441-9513-4615a31340ef

Not saying it is correct or a flaw in the application, but primitives have always displayed like this. If you use sketches and solid modeling commands, it displays and holds the value as expected.

Edit: This behavior is probably due to the fact after the primitive box is complete, there is the option to change its size by dragging.

I see your point, but even if it has been always like this it still does not make sense, considering that the up/down dimension holds perfectly fine the first time it's typed.
The alternative provided is valid but creating a sketch for a single (simple) solid is a hassle considering you would have the sketch and the extrude in the timeline instead of only a solid marker.
Just tabbing through the dimensions once and re-inserting the parameters works, but is work that in my opinion could be avoided if the behavior in question changed.
Thanks for the time taken at responding.
