I've been having this issue for a long time. I want to say it happened after a specific update, but it's been so long that this behaviors been happening that I'm not sure if that is what caused it. It seems to happen on my laptop as well. Not sure if this is the expected behavior but while in sketches, if I try creating a line or a circle or anything else and typing in a value it will not actually extend to the target length/diameter. Instead, it locks the current length at it's current position seemly at random.

For example while in a sketch, I can create a line starting from one point and move a certain direction. The value in parenthesis will change based on how far it is from the originated point. Normally, you can just type in a specific value to make the line jump to that target length. It will also 'lock' this value, so you cannot incidentally shrink or extend that typed in value incidentally. However in my instance when I type in the value, it locks in the current length that I had moved my mouse to and does not extend to the typed value.

Maybe the best way is to show it through an attached video. Its worth mentioning that this behavior seemly occurs at random. Toward the end of the sample video, you can see after 3-4 attempts it actually does jump to the typed in length as should be expected.

Is this a bug? Is there something I am doing wrong? Is there a preference or option a missing somewhere?

If you are running Windows 7 you have to deal with it as 7 is no longer supported.

But this also occurs on my laptop, which is using Windows 10. I am highly
skeptical the issue is related to the OS because of that alone.

Yes. It is crazy annoying to deal with. I think it has something to do with applied constraints. Another part of me wants to think not. Sometimes if I exit the sketch menu and jump back in, perform the same action (typing in a value), then it will work.

Why has no one from Fusion 360 acknowledged this bug or issue yet? It has been here for the at least the better half of the year. It did not used to do this before a certain update.

Also I found another application-breaking bug. While trying moving my cursor around a given point to create an angle value in degrees and then confirming the value, sometimes, will hang the application and completely crash the program. Sometimes doing so without even recovering the project. The programmer in me might guess that the values parsed in degrees are exceeding the range expected by whatever is being invoked to calculate and generate that line from one coordinate to another. I have sent in the crash reports via the crash handler, but lately I have given up doing so since it happens so frequently and it just takes up more time from what I am trying to accomplish as a user. As an alternative, I have found that creating a reference coordinate in my sketch and connecting to the two points together avoids the crash but it impedes the workflow.

Reinstalling fusion or changing operating systems does not resolve the issue.

As a student I like fusion360... but I might switch to solidworks if it is this unstable.

Hi,

I prefer a separate procedure:
1. create element > ok
2. create dimension >ok

This allows me to sketch more fluidly.

günther
