uninstall previous versions

Hi,

As Fusion update quite often, I was wondering if there is an option or an utility to remove previous version after updating Fusion 360, in order to save some disk space...

@jean-michel_legoff you do not need to remove previous versions after an update. We delete the files that should not be needed from the previous version as part of the update. Are you seeing otherwise?

I'm seeing the same thing (on a Windows 10 box). Update was initiated from Fusion.

Our engineering team is working on a fix. I am also trying to to understand when the potential fix can be deployed and also if it will clean up older folders or the fix will be for new updates moving forward. I will update here when I know more. Thank you

Fusion's always been quite bad at cleaning up after an update. This is my production folder, most of the directories only contain one or two files. Usually these are machine or postprocessors I've edited so not a standard Fusion file.

Here's a couple of examples.

But recently Fusion seems to have left a whole instal behind.

Three of the directories that show the arrow for subdirectories have full installs with 4+GB of space used. The other 2 directories with sub folder just contain a few files.

These are the 3 folders with full installs and their install dates. I tend to hold off when new versions are released so some people might have more than this.

@HughesTooling Recently there seems to be some instances where almost the entire folder was left back on the machine. This is what the fix will be addressing.

can I simply remove completely old folders like those from 27/08/24 and 02/10/24 ??

Today we have deployed an update version 2.0.20494 that has a fix for this issue. After this update you should not see these huge files left behind. Apologies for the previous experience. Please let us know if you continue to see this.

I've tried this update, and can confirm that the previous installation folder is empty...
But I guess that you have to restart the workstation to get this result...

@jean-michel_legoff You do not need to restart the machine for the folders to go empty. Just restart of Fusion which is naturally the process to move to another version.
