Hi Seth,

Okay young man slowww I’m old and got brain fry !! 🙂 at 67 years young it takes a little longer for many things to happen!! .....and I’ve been playing around this issue for so long now.

I have a Yetitool Smartbench 8x 4 3 axis nesting router that used GBRL post processor when there was no machine to select but now I can select that machine from the list so think the post is still GBRL but refined for that machine. UK machine made in Bristol – if I had more £ would have bought Another type.

Never output to it as yet and it’s driving me nuts!!

When in Manufacture, New setup - I thought the initial settings I have for the stock, body etc are setup wrong ?? So at what part in the process do I add the 1 or 2 etc?

Is the rest of the setup correct?

Many thanks,
Stay safe
Mike

Hi, I am just getting to find my way around Fusion 360 and so far find it amazing- particularly considering the cost.

I am now at a point where I've tried something so many times "I just can't see the wood for the trees" as I know I'm now not doing something really simple in my setup and feel rather stupid.

I have taken my time trying to input everything required to post this test sample but have the same error every time. I’ve done it -error –edited - deleted- reset – error – deleted so many times now. I’ve put in my all my intended drill holes, slots etc and the paths seem okay but still showing error “stock offset has not been specified” after posting.

First time with setting up for 3 axis CNC machine routing 18mm plywood so dunno if my drill and 2 flute straight cutter feeds and speeds are okay either - fingers X'd I don't have a fire on my first test!!

The Work Offset not Specified" error come straight from the Setup. On the last tab, we have this field:

Simply input a "1" there (without the "") and you will post out a G54.

Hi Seth. Thanks for your reply.

I’m confused though.

As a relatively new user to Fusion 360 I don’t really understand what you are suggesting I do to resolve the post error.

I thought, and still do think that I’ve set something up wrong when selecting XYZ, stock point model point etc or is this something to change in the .nc post file ?

Many thanks,
Mike

The error message you are seeing is translated to this: "Hey buddy, you didn't tell me what Work Offset number to assign to this program, so I took the liberty of that and assigned G54". To avoid that error message, just assign the proper assignment to it. 1=G54, 2=55, 3=56 so on and so forth.

Assuming anything above a hobby router with minimal interface, you should have fields in the control software to establish where "home" position is on a part.
What control and machine are you using?

The rest of the setup looks correct. You will input a 1 or 2 on the last tab of the setup dialog. But, just so we're clear, the warning you are getting is just a "heads-up", you can often just continue along and run your code. Are you NOT getting any other code when you post?

Hi Seth, I had to take a few hours away from the pc and Fusion 360 it's 11.30pm here in the UK. Are you in the USA ? dunno what time it is there.
Anyway, appreciate your thoughts on my error message. I think as a newbie to Fusion and never having posted a file for a CNC machine I have missed an extremely important process in getting this correct. So after I've done my new setup, chosen correct tool and input settings I can go to simulation, look at the results, no collisions and the cutting time seems realistic.
Next - I need to go to the option to Generate G Code, gbrl or download the file for that machine etc. ...correct ? Save the file locally THEN use this code to generate an .nc post ? Unfortunately, the basic instructions provided with the Yeti are extremely poor. Anyway, thank you and if this is basically correct appreciate any further input.
I now need zzz
Ta,
Mike
