I guess I should just get used to using the combine tool to split bodies. I usually use the split body tool to split bodies becuase that what it says it does whereas using a combine tool to split bodies is not intuitive. I have been using the split body tool to split bodies using other bodies as the spliting tool by selecting the entire body as the tool. I know it says you are suppose to use profiles, face or a plane but using entire bodies also works, except when you use a sphere body to split something. Just wondering why that is.

I can split a body with a sphere when I create a new sphere with cut mode. But I can't split a body when I create a new sphere body and try to split something with this sphere body.

Here is what I mean. Create a box. Now create a smaller sphere by selecting the top of the box and create the new sphere body. The sphere should be half way inside the the top of the box. Now try to split the box with the sphere. I get unhandled intersecting tool data error. Is this supposed to happen?

I think you need to define what you mean by Split Body. You have no feature, sketch or plane that related the the box that can split it. You can however use the Combine command to Cut it or Join it, Intersect would not make a lot sense but you cannot split the box with a plain sphere. Attach your model and explain a little better what you really want.

If you do not know how to attach your model, open it in Fusion360, select the File menu and then choose Export and save the .F3D file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section of a reply forum post to attach it.

You did say the command you are using to split a body with a body. If it is the Split Body command, you really are not using a body to split with. Take a look at the Screencast.

Thanks, I now realize that I have been using the split body tool improperly. I didn't know you weren't supposed to use bodies. I never had a problem using this tool to split bodies with other bodies, just couldn't use spheres . Seem to me the split body tool should have the ability to split bodies using everything. Profiles, faces, lines, planes, and any body.
