I have a issue - My graphics area(where my model is displayed) will freeze after a few minutes inactivity . Cant move, edit, zoom. All menus and submenus working fine. I even can save my model. I cant open any other models and start new one if this freeze has happend. Only restarting fusion helps. I`ve tryed to log out and in, run fusion as administrator, all drivers are up to date and even reinstalled Fusion 360.

Hi,

Are you using more than one monitor?

Can you please get log files the next time this happens? Restart Fusion, go to Help > Support and Diagnostics > Diagnostic Log Files to use the command that gathers logs.

I am experiencing something very similar. The trigger for the problem seems to be the screen saver - in my case I'm using BOINC Manager to run background computations while I'm not using the computer. Whenever I return to the desktop and Fusion 360 from the screen saver:

A. Any loaded models have disappeared from the display window, as has the view cube.

B. Opening a new tab or loading another model results in the same empty display.

C. Disabling then enabling the view cube does not restore its visibility.

D. File save and other menu items seem to work.

I'm attaching the diagnostics log.

Thanks,

Tom

What you are describing sounds completely different. The OP does not mention the computer going to sleep, or the effects you describe, which sound like graphics have failed.

Could you check your graphics diagnostic for me? It's on the help menu, support and diagnostics sub menu. The dialog has a way to copy it all to clipboard so you can post here.

You could try updating your drivers. Those are 3 (nearly 4) years old. The latest are from a couple months ago.

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/81496/Intel-HD-Graphics-4600

Another thing you could try is limiting the graphics effects. In that same dialog that gave you the diagnostic data, there's a check box that can disable all graphics effects. You want that "on", currently it's "off".

[Limit effects to optimize performance]

(this should be On rather than Off)

Keep in mind that your graphics card is an integrated kind, with very little memory. If you are using two monitors this will strain it even more. So turning off effects is a good way to reduce the strain.

Good luck, and please let me know how it goes.

Intel® Driver & Support Assistant reports:

"A customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on your computer. The Intel Driver & Support Assistant is not able to update the driver. Installing a generic Intel driver instead of the customized computer manufacturer driver may cause technical issues. Contact Dell for the latest driver for your computer."

The most recent driver version from Dell is the one I've got.

I enabled [Limit effects to optimize performance], but the problem remains.

BTW, I just performed the Fusion 360 version update.

Hi,

We've discovered a reason for this unfortunate bug. It affects certain video cards. We're working on a fix at this time, but since we can't promise when it can be released it would be best to try the workaround in this article.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Model-does-not-display-changes-in-Fusion-360-user-interface-after-continuing-the-work-from-Windows-locked-screen.html

Please let me know if that helps.

For me the cause of it seems to be windows screen saver. If I disabled it I could work without any problems all the 10hrs shift. In the morning when I get back to work it was still working. Now I did a little test- I only previewed windows screen saver and simutaniously Fusion got freezed. Ill try this link also what you posted Phil.L

That seems to work. The display remained in its normal state through several screen saver cycles. I also re-enabled the effects setting and that worked as well. Looks like that should keep me going for now. Thanks!
