Following this mornings update, cross hatching in a section is locked to the screen and not to the component orientation.

your observation is correct. Cross hatching is done using graphics tricks, and not by actually sectioning the precise 3D model. It is intended to be just for casual visualization purposes, and not for any precise representation. And so, yes, there will be these kinds of graphics effects that result.

Thank you @jeff_strater . I had not noticed this before and would have sworn that it was a change in F360 behaviour!
