I have begun to make an orchid planter. I would like to add some leaves to the design and then extrude them thru the sides of the pot for aeration and drainage. I know about using svg files but some of the files I get are too big and will not extrude.

Can anyone help me with this process?

Thanks

Bob

Please attach your model and also zip up and attach a typical SVG file so the forum users can help you. If you do not know how to attach your model, open it in Fusion360, select the File menu and then choose Export and save the .F3D file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section of a reply forum post to attach it.

Got your file but not the SVG file. You attached an image (PNG) but it cannot be imported into Fusion 360 except as an canvas overlay. This would require the tracing over of the image which is not something I can take the time to do. Please zip up and attach the SVG file.

Attached is the model with one side cut with the SVG design. When you import the design, you can scale it larger or smaller, I used 1.25 as my scale factor. You can see how to do it from the timeline but if you need further explanation let me know and I will create a Screencast.

Turns off all of your pot sides are varying thicknesses so the previous model pattern did not cut through all sides. The attached model corrects this error.

After I posted my comment and second model, I realized why I have to use a different method to account for the walls varying thicknesses. They are twisted and I am projecting my extrusion from a flat plane so I have to use Extrude to a Distance that will clear the varying distances. Your walls are not varying thicknesses at any given point on them, but they vary across their surface due to the twist.

So played around with putting words on the flower pot.

Eventually found insert SVG file and using your other instruction, I have been very productive
