Hello everyone!

My name is Dominic and I am a student trying to learn fusion 360. This community has been so helpful in getting me off the ground and up and running. This weekend I wanted to learn how to use the thread tools so I decided to make some nuts and end caps of various things around the house using fusion 360 and my 3D printer. One of them requires a 1 3/16 - 16 3B thread, but with an internal triangle configuration which was not in the various threads found in the threading tool, the on listed in ASME is more like a flat head. So, I decided to do some googling and found out that I could make custom threads using the coil tool. Well, I was able to get the right pitch, height, diameter, and section configured but for some reason I could not get the tool to cut into a solid body. Screenshots are attached. I really appreciate your help and time!

Please attach your model. If you do not know how to attach your model, open it in Fusion360, select the File menu and then choose Export and save the .F3D file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section of a reply forum post to attach it.

Do you need further help in order to attach your model? Your screen captures, in your original post, are very unclear as to what is happening. You will probably get a very quick answer if you give the forum users your model to troubleshoot.

From where you started the coil, your height and pitch needs to be negative. I did a Section Analysis to show the buried threads. You can delete it or turn it off from the Browser.

Model is attached.

Thanks so much! Did not realize that I needed to make the pitch negative. You are the best!
