Please attach your model. If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section of a forum post to attach it.

I have made a central nut and threaded rods that line up with either side, opposite threads on one side than the other but I cannot figure out how to get the animation to work correctly, the nut in the center is supposed to spin on its axis while the outside rods move out and in, I can get it to where the nut spins and moves back and fourth along one of the rods or I can get it to where one of the rods spins in or out but I cannot figure out how to get it to work the way I intend it to, any help would be appreciated, thank you!

You have not posted your model so I created what I believe your are talking about. Basically it is like a turnbuckle. If this is what you are thinking about, please post your model and the forum users can help.

that is exactly what I want! thank you, sorry I didn't reply quickly.

the model doesn't currently have the joints applied since they didn't work the way I wanted them to.

It would take too long to do the complete assembly joints in a Screencast so I hit the highlights. If this is not enough, I can do a MP4 video of the complete process. As I pointed out in the video, the screws are just flush with the nut face, on each end, you can adjust this as needed. As also mentioned, you must animate the model using one of the Slider joints, which I renamed Drive Me. The reason is internal to Fusion 360 and if you have to know, I will explain it.

Looking a few of your model sketches, I do not see much attention being paid to constraints and dimensions. You can experiment like this but in a final assembly, these will come back and bite you. Model is attached by a different name.

Thank you! Thats exactly what I needed! I was using measured values for yhe sizes of the things I made, some in metric some in standard unfortunately. I do realize I used far more thread than I need and plan on extending the part that isn't threaded on the pipe over the threads, kind of used rough values for that. Again thank you for the help I am applying it right away!
