In my model I had around 336 bodies.

As I plan to manufacture these using the arrange features I converted these over to Components.

Since doing this I notice that performance is been affected, in some operations the wait for return of control is 20 to 30 seconds, whereby the same operations took only a few seconds when they remained in the model as Bodies.

I also notice memory usage has gone from around 4Gb to nearly 8Gb "at rest, and often spikes at 12Gb for the Fusion 360 process.

Is there anything that can be done to restore performance?

David

Can you please share the file(without changing bodies to components), Export as *.f3d\*.f3z and attach here to the replay.

A screencast/video showing converted the bodies over to Components will be helpful.

Well as I'm learning Fusion 360 perhaps I have not approached the months of work with the correct best practice....

Are you telling me that if you build a model and have lots of Bodies and the you convert them to Components it's normal to end up with a model that is basically unusable due to performance reasons??

No, that is not what I am telling you!

However, based on many years of work on this forum I can say that you likely used other not recommended design practices, which then result in performance issues. Hard to say without seeing the model.

And, yes under the right circumstances using bodies instead of components can result in performance problems, but I suspect that there are some compound issues going on in your design.

we really need to see the design to say for sure. Very hard to speculate without that information. I have not had the experience of performance concerns after converting bodies to components, but there may be something in your design that is especially problematic in this workflow. If so, we'd like to know so we can investigate.
