I've drawn this thing countless times, and if necessary, I can cheat to get around the problem. But I really would like to learn how to do it right.

I layout my lines for the four radial webs, close sketch, then Create > Web > click on the individual lines, give it a value of .04, OK, webs appear.

I repeat the process exactly for the vertical ribs. But after I select the first rib, the process freezes so that I have to undo out.

When I cheat, I preselect all four ribs, then web them. That usually works.

If I try to select the radial lines and the vertical lines to web them together, the vertical ribs break through the cup.

Any help will be appreciated.

I do not see any issue with creating the vertical webs either individually or together. Please attach a Screencast showing your issue. You cannot select the radial and vertical lines for the same web command due to the fact that the web command is seeking the next available solid to extend the web to. The vertical web will see the wrong surface and give you undesirable results.

Thank you so much John. I particularly like the way you demonstrate via screencast. I'm a little phobic about using the screencast myself, but I need to get over it. I've been able to do as you did in the screencast. I can select a line and make a web. What always fails for me is gang-select as Brad does in the tutorial. I'll try to put that together in a screencast.

The Screencast will show you this but I want to emphasis it in writing also. After you select the first sketch line, the web develops to a thickness of 0.040". Since you are having a hard time selecting the second line, you are actually setting a new web width, replacing the 0.040". When working with a selection set, where the first feature has already developed, you MUST hold down the Ctrl key (Windows) to select the remaining sketch lines. After you hold the Ctrl key and start selecting the remaining sketch lines, the first web will disappear but it will come back when you finish selecting and let the Ctrl key go.

John: Over the years I've had precious little success in understanding responses to my technical question. Not with you. You make it so clear to me. I fully understand what you've just told me. Another arrow in my quiver of knowledge. Sorry I didn't attach the file as well. The last thing I want to do is make it hard for anyone to help me. I suppose Brad was using his CTRL key from muscle memory forgetting to mention that he was doing so. I can certainly see how that would happen. I'm learning so much by performing Brad's tutorials with you as backup when this 75y/o man gets stumped. Thanks again, Bill
