[bug] panning frustrating due to bounding box calculation error

Panning won't help reach components, seemingly depending on zoom level.

One has to revert to multiple out zoom and pannings to get into correct framing. This is both time consuming and frustrating.

Please please correct this.

Hi @djon_3V3 ,

I hope you're doing well. Panning is possible in Fusion360 on the Mac. I presume you are on a track pad? Do you have a mouse? If you are on a track pad, panning is accomplished by means of invoking a middle mouse click. I'm not familiar what the correct gesture might be but from what I recall a left+right click does a middle click on the mac or a three finger tap. Holding and moving the middle click will allow you to pan and you don't have to deal with the incessant zooming in and out.

Panning is done using two fingers and sliding. It works well, except that depending -i believe- on the zoom level, i can not pan to the same extent. That makes some components out of reach and the only way to get to them is to zoom out from a far corner of the work area, then zoom in again by centering on the area of interest.

Behavior of panning is quite unpredictable, making it more irritating.

No, I'm sorry. To be honest, I can't tell exactly what is wrong by looking at your video. It just looks like you randomly panning and zooming.

What is the problem exactly? Please describe how panning fails during your design experiences with Fusion.

@djon_3V3 Thank you for taking the time to record that. It's crystal clear and describes the issue perfectly. I think the bounding box is a UI problem. The navigation commands are not "aware" of the wider design canvas. That's inconvenient for sure, as you have shown.

@jorge_garcia I'm going to bring this to the QA team, this looks like a bug.

So sorry to hear that you're having trouble and thank you very much for your video.

I just logged an improvement ticket to track this.

1. If there is mouse connected to the device, we could use middle mouse to scroll up and down easily.

2. Or press the Zoom to Fit icon to make the canvas be updated with the expected canvas size.

By the way, usually I use zoom in/out gesture as you did in your video to get the expected device. 🙂

Thanks for taking time to check this.

I have no mouse, neither did i ever used one for a few years. Trackpads became so much more practical and useful in recent years, i see no advantage going back to sweeping my desktop.
