Unable to export as STL -Fusion Error Max Attempts with No Progress - No Chitubox/No Crashing

I am very new to fusion 360. I made a simple disk less than 2" in diameter with an indent in the top to 3d print as a practice part. Its not huge or overly complicated. When I try to save the file as a .stl it says it has to process in the cloud but I have tried it three times and they all fail after about 15 minutes. If I right click on the body the export as stl is not there as shown in some of the tutorials on Youtube. Its frustrating because a lot seems to have changed compared to the functionality a few months ago. I am just trying to get a simple disk out of the program as practice. I can export as an f3d file in about 2 seconds. My fusion 360 did update to a new version yesterday? Thank you in advance for the advise. Its not crashing anything as reported in other threads, just failing to export/download as an stl from the cloud. I do not have chitubox installed either.

I don't know why F3d makes the hard way to do this easy, and the easy way to do it, well more hidden.

This will likely get you all set, and it works fast, even on more complex things...

Right click the component,

Scroll down to "save as STL"

And it will do it quickly, without the cloud. Also, you can choose your favorite slicer, and it will auto open in your slicer.

Thanks for the reply, but there is no "save as stl" in the right click menu. Not right clicking the body or right clicking the component. I tried all that before even posting. I have the personal use version and it seems to have been restricted.

Did you start, from the first time you opened a project, by right clicking and choosing "new component?"

If you didn't, try that.

Then right click on the created component. I doubt this is it, but it is a good idea anyway. I can't quite tell from your pic.

Yes I am using the free version. I did not start with new component so I am going to try that. I was able to export in OBJ just fine from the cloud, but had to convert it as Cura Slicer would not open it correctly for some reason. Thank you for the advice.

I use cura too, and the right click trick works so well, fast, and I've never had any trouble. I can export at max resolution too.

Sorry if it is that the free version does not support.

It looks like you only have a form, you need to finish the form which converts it to a Brep you can then save as an STL

OK if its a mistake on my part I apologize. I have been watching videos but I cant find one that does what you are asking. I made a sketch and used the revolve tool to make the shape. I can not find a video on how to finish the form so I can export it as an stl. I did export it as an .obj in the cloud and after using another tool to convert to stl it printed just fine.

I am a bit puzzled by the screen grab. You have a form in the browser but you are in the Solid workspace, I can't figure out how you've managed to end up with this, for me exiting the Form workspace converts the form to a body. Can you export your design as a F3D and attach here. Also looking at what you have in the image you should not be using a form anyway, you probably should have used revolve from the Solid, Create menu.

Thank you very much for the hints. Yes, last night I kept looking and another new person had the same problem. Someone here mentioned a "yellow revolve" and a "blue revolve." I knew I hit the yellow one to do the original part so I redid revolve using the blue revolve and it was done and the local stl option appeared. There are a lot of tutorials online about using revolve, but none mentioned this that I could find. There look to be three revolves now so it confuses me, but at least I know not to use the yellow one if I want to use it for an stl.

Think it did confuse you because you actually used the purple one, orange one would still export as a STL. I think this might be a bug as well because I'm pretty sure you should not be able to create a form unless you have a form feature active in the timeline.

Here's a screen grab of your design you can see the purple colour body in the browser. Also you have 3 empty Form features in the timeline you should delete. You might find it useful to have a look at the Help and review Sketch, Solid, Surface and Form to get more of an overview.

I'm not sure this will help; however, what you are calling orange, blue, or purple are

Orange: Parametric Surface revolve

Blue: Solid revolve

Purple: Freeform revolve

These correspond to the colors when you are using these 3 types [e.g., the solid tools are blue].
