I've spent over an hour trying to locate two holes through solid box. Your solution works but I'm not happy about it. I need to cut a 1.5mm groove through the side of the box... let me clarify box, it's really a thin rectangular spacer that's 3.175mm / 0.125 thick. The two holes correspond to 4.7625mm / 3/16" holes in a circuit board. The spacer is used to separate the board from a sheet metal case. The channel "jumps over" a small wire. None of this should be that hard. If I wrote PLC programs the way this software is written I'd be out of a job. Nobody likes simple to be made difficult.

Paying user here. Do you anticipate ever leaving the menu system alone? Maybe do that long enough to let a book be relevant for more than 30 seconds? Imagine how frustrating it is for someone new to 3D design to learn the software when the menu is never constant. I need to be able to place holes in specific locations. Nothing too hard in MANY OTHER PIECES OF SOFTWARE. Just a distance from two edges of a rectangle for the centerpoint. To find the centerline of the long side of the rectangle, according to the book, you just click Geometry, select Centerline and 1/2 of what I need appears. Except there is no Geometry menu selection. You make the simple things difficult.

I used to be a CAD trainer and there is always a lag between printed CAD textbooks and the application itself, not just Fusion 360. In the Screencast, I go through a few methods, there are others, of placing hole centers. One of the main things to remember is to make sure all your hole centers are fully constrained in the model, meaning the location of the hole cannot accidentally be changed by dragging. The forum is here, please come back with questions as they occur.

Ie the software is not the problem, it's the user (me).

It's going to take some time break old habits but I believe that it's possible. Thanks for your help.

Mike
