topic Selection Filter for lines which are no constuction lines? in Fusion Support Forum

Hi,

sorry if this isn't the right forum - it's my first post :-).

Question:

when I am designing I am usually playing around with dimensions, symmetry and such without knowing my entire concept yet. I usually use construction lines to reflect all these features in my sketches which end up heavily constrained.

At the end I draw a normal outline over these construction lines which are then usually only constrained with coincident or collinear. Somehow this helps me to manage constrains and not break them - but I end up with double lines (a normal and potentially multiple construction lines) on top of each other.

The one feature that I am missing dearly for this workflow is a selection filter where i could only select normal (non construction) lines and be able to double click to find outlines. There seems to be no dedicated selection filter ( yet? ) - but maybe there is a way? How are you dealing with this in an explorative design phase?

Thanks for your feedback!

Best MJ

Hi,

This is how you can identify lines and select them if necessary.

I agree that a selection filter "Construction Lines" could be helpful.

günther

That's basically what I am doing - but it is very cumbersome as you always have to try for the correct line (which is sometimes really hard to see) and you can't select entire chains.

A problem I run into a lot is that I select a line or a point via dropdown and then I want to move it a bit to see if it is actually free to move. But when I click again (after selecting the object) I get into a new selection mess instead of being able to move the previously selected object... Very tricky to clean things up.

there is no "construction sketch curve" or "non-construction sketch curve" filter today. It has been requested before, and it seems a reasonable request.
