Huge lags and freezing on my new high-end PC

Hello,

I just bought new PC with these parametres:

CPU: Ryzen 5900x

GPU: RTX 3070

RAM: 48 GB CL16 3200 MHz

SSD: Samsung 980 Pro 1TB (read 7000 MB/s, write 5000 MB/s)

I tested its performance in 2 cpu and gpu intensive games and it is great.

But main purpose of this new PC is Fusion 360. I hoped that assemblies will be much faster to display and for work.

Unfortunatelly an unpleasant surprise came. On my old laptop ran Fusion 360 much better. Now on this PC is huge problem to do anything like insert a dimension (50 sec freeze) in a simple design or set constraints (10 sec freeze). I contacted technical support and he tried to look at it by Team viewer and he said that this is probably problem with software optimalization.

I have latest updated drivers, also updated my Windows 10 Pro and also I looked if there is problem with parked cores (I read about that on this forum) but I have any parked cores.

It looks like there is problem with CPU/Fusion management because when program is freezed the CPU has always only 1 core to 100%. It is very weird that this is happening because on my older laptop where is CPU 4 cores Intel i7-6700HQ with clockspeed: 2.6 GHz and turbo speed: 3.5 GHz and it perform better than Ryzen 5900x 12 cores and clockspeed: 3.7 GHz turbo speed: 4.8 GHz.

I am really surprised and dissapointed because I expected much better work with Fusion 360 but now I cant work and it is huge problem for me now because Fusion 360 is now totally useless.

Can anybody solve my problem please?

Hi,

You can find a lot of information on the web about how many cores Fusion uses in CAD.

Your description could have to do with a special sketch constellation.

Please share the file.

File > export > save as f3d on local device > attach it to the next post.

Your data panel looks odd, it doesn't look like you have any projects. There was a problem reported where Fusion ran badly if you delete all projects and designs. Have you saved any projects and designs to the hub you're using in the image below? PS please don't attach pictures, either paste into message or use the insert photo option.

Hi Mr Tomas Boborsky,

Yes, there might be something to fret about.
Day-two ago, my project has been running without complications. Now, it freezes and blinks every couple of seconds, trying to update graphics after the slightest mouse movement. I must admit it contains points-ample sketches, but it was not a problem before!?

I believe that sketches handling (and possible changes in the respective code) are the culprit as when they are switched off ... everything goes to normal.

Could the knowledgeable TF360 member(s) check the issue, please?

PS. The behaviour coincides with other inconvenience - difficulties of logging on/offline.

I am sorry but I think that turning off "Show Profile" is really not the way and not the solution of this problem. It is little ridiculous if Fusion 360 cant handle that few lines and it runs on high-end PC. Why it runs better on my older laptop? This is a topic we should address.

If it were an extensive assembly of many, many components, I would say well, but a sketch with a few lines? Come on.

I dont want decrease performance if I have Ryzen 5900x and rtx 3070... I invested a lot of money and I get lower performance in Fusion 360! This is a problem.

I hope you will understand me...

That is not an efficient technique in any of the parametric MCAD softwares that I use.

Do not pattern sketch elements.

Pattern Bodies/Features/Faces instead of sketch elements.

Just the update on what is going on regarding the inefficiency of handling sketches after installation of the latest version of F360 (2.0.10143).

There is a piece of good news, at least on my side. Sketches are flowing on the screen smoothly once again!.

Mr Tomas Boborsky, what is happening on your the old and new hardware?

Appeal to developers:

Could you please put in additional testing efforts before releasing the new/updated functionality of the software?

I have to apologies for little mistification!

I tried this sketch on my older laptop and it is much worse there. So it is not by newer pc but by optimalization.

It is sad that these few lines are that huge problem for PCs.

If you start the move command and widow select the whole sketch you get 1256 items, so not what I'd call a few lines don't forget there are constraints at each corner. Also part of the problem is you set Fusion an impossible task. The large rectangle is a fixed size and so are all the small ones so after adding the equal constraint the size is fixed at 125mm. Actually this should set the vertical lines as fixed as at this point they are constrained. Adding just one dimension instead of the equal constraints does make the vertical lines constrained. So there is a bug in the solver not showing constrained with the equal constraints.

Adding equal constraints at the corners should show fully constrained but doesn't @jeff_strater is it worth logging this with the solver team?

Just spotted something else that should be avoided. Your pattern is creating lines on top of lines so you're creating a lot more data than you need and curves on to of curves can lead to problems calculating closed profiles.

Hello guys!

I finally found out solution!

I downloaded program "Ryzen master" and there I switched "Auto OC" mode. I dont know how it is doing but now Fusion 360 use all my cores and cores are automaticly overclocked (which is obvious thx to OC mode). Performance is now absolutelly incredibly great. Now it is maybe 10 times better or more. Everything in my assembly is smooth now, fast and no waiting for rendering of parts (sometimes it was invisible for few seconds).

Sometimes it still runs only on 1 core but it is much better.
