If you can Show/Hide the bodies and/or components in the Fusion 360 Browser, try this method.

I imported an assembly from Solidworks and I'd like to hide or make transparent a lot of parts so that I can see how to do some service work on the system.

With the E-drawing tool from Solidworks, I can select a part, or several parts, right click and hide them. In Fusion 360, I can rarely get the 'v' shortcut do do anything so I find the part in the browser and turn it off there which is very tedious.

I've seen some older posts where the replies basically indicate that that's just the way it is. Is there a good way to do this now?

Thanks,

John

You need to be aware of your selection filter. If you choose Component priority:

Or, manually set your selection filter to Components (same net effect):

then, everything you select will be a component, and "v" will always work, whether you have local or external components.

Another trick: double click on a face, and that will select the component that owns that face. Again, "v" will work here.

Hi John,

I'll look into isolating, especially when I get more experience with modifying designs. For the current problem, I have to remove some layers of parts before I get to the parts to isolate. Once I get there, this may be useful to remove the clutter, such as fasteners.

Thanks,

John

I have a very related issue where I use the mouse hover then the 'v' key to hide something. This always choses the body, not the component. So you end up with really awkward instances of your object browser showing a 👁️ but the body deep down in that tree is hidden (you have to expand it). It would be significantly more convenient if it prioritized hiding the whole component instead of the body so the browsing tree makes sense as to what's hidden and what's not.
