I have created a heater plate with 3 zoned rod heaters. The end zones are 200W each (1200W total) and the center zone is 150W (900W total). There are 6 heater rods with 3 zones each (200W/150W/200W)

When I run the analysis I fine one end of the plate is much cooler than the other. However both ends of the cylinder faces inside the part have the same thermal loads applied (1200W). The middle is slightly less. I would expect the heat to be symmetric, a bit hotter on the ends and bleeding into the center to create a somewhat uniform heat distribution.

If I remove the split faces to make these all one long heating rod I get the results expected (hot in center and cooling on the ends).

Any idea what might be happening?

Hi Sean,

Did you make sure that convection and radiation are applied symmetrically?
In case you already did so, can you share the model?
