Simulation - Simplify - Clone Simulation Model returns error: [Source Entity with id:14 is already tracked]

Hello, first time posting here! So if I did something wrong in posting here, feel free to educate me!

I want to run some static simulation with my designs.

I have 3 types of sensor mount concepts that I want to test (below)

And I have created a "ghost" mount like below

(the air part is the "keep out" zone due to the moving actuators)

First, to see if simulations work correctly, I mounted the first mount and added appropriate bolt connectors / constraints and loads to get the desired simulation results.

Note: there are 6 load cases which are not simple.

So, I want to do the same simulation for the other parts.

My idea was to assemble all three mounts in the design, make 3 simulation models and use simplify to leave out only one in each. So I go into design workspace and joint up three sensor mounts at once

And, I go to the simulation workspace > simplify and right click on my first model (Config 01) to clone model.

And this returns an errror!

The error reads:

Error: Source Entity with id:14 is already tracked Error: An error occurred during Working Model copy operation.

I don't know why this happens, and I don't know what the error means...

Most importantly, I can't seem to avoid this error.

The "id" is always 14.

Things I have tried

- Supress my design imports and joints

- Unchecking all the items from the dialogue box below (and pressing okay)

- Using Simplify to delete various components

++ alternatively, I could try just making a new simulation model every time, and reset all my contacts, constraints, and load cases. But this seems too tedious especially because i want to add more sensor models in the future.

++ alter-alternatively, I could just copy the entire design for each sensor mount models, but this seems like a huge waste of memory space / computation resources.

If anyone can help me get past this stage, that would be amazing!

Hi @brobeforeho,

Unfortunately, the F3z isn't able to be opened. Is there an earlier version of the file you can open & export that still displays the issue?

The issue is logged as ID-87542 for development to look into why I can't open the exported F3z (I marked it high priority to be addressed in an upcoming update or release).

In the meantime, I wonder if you can break the Xref links (RMB on the linked component in the browser -> Break link) it will clear things up enough to be a workaround for Sim.

Otherwise, I don't see any issue with the approach you're taking for a 'design of experiments' for the different design options.
