Words cannot describe how sad and furious I am right now. Hours and hours down the drain. I saved my document but after being told by the Fusion team that in order to avoid the bug of having to sign up and log in with McMaster-Carr (I was trying to insert a screw into my document) you just need to clear your cache, I lost everything when it was restarted. Even though it's super annoying, I would have signed up with McMaster-Carr if I had known that was the only way to get their CAD files! Now I've lost everything.

It's probably futile, but I've attached the log file in the vain hope that maybe there's a sliver of chance I can get my work back. Please let me know it this is possible. Otherwise LET USERS KNOW THIS WILL HAPPEN IF YOU CLEAR YOUR CACHE!!!!

If you saved your files, at all, take a look at this folder. The third entry from the end is the Fusion 360 version, it should be the same as yours but I cannot guarantee it. The files here are a different name than what you save but similar. The files here are not clear with a purge of your cache.

Thanks John, appreciate your help. That url worked except for the part where you have to put in your custom login ID. Where do you find that? I've been searching and can't find it.

This is a Windows folder location on your computer not a url. The folder may be hidden on your computer so you may have to go to File Explorer and toggle the visibility.

I am not sure I understand what you are writing.

You don't have to have an account with Mc Master Carr or log in to download their models.

I am also not aware of a bug that would interfere with downloading a model from Mc Master Carr.

Assuming you were online with Fusion 360 and no in Offline mode, your documents should have been saved in the cloud and deleting the cache should have had no effect on those document, because the cache is located on your local machine.

I am also not really sure why deleting the cache would help with downloading McMaster Carr models.

Apparently you do now, at least with my subscription. If you click on the product, it asks you to log in to download. Once I signed up, I was shown the drop down menu of file formats to import the screw. I did check my documents in the cloud and didn't see it either, so it was strange indeed because I have it set to save every 5 min.

I should have been more skeptical where it was advised to delete the cache. This is the forum link in case you were interested: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-support/mcmaster-carr-requests-login/td-p/7646953

I don't think that would have to do with your Fusion 360 subscription.

If you go to Mc Master Carr using your computers web browser, are you also prompted to log in ?

I use Google Chrome and Safari on my mac and Google Chrome on my Windows machine and don't have to log into a Mc Master Carr account to download a STEP file.

Yeah when I go to their site, it asks me to log in. I use Firefox though. It's not the worst thing I apparently had to sign up with them in Fusion 360, just inconvenient and definitely should not have been advised to clear the cache. Strange others don't have to sign up though; wonder why that is.
