The order of selection when placing a Tangent Constraint does not matter. Also it is not required to have a fully constrained sketch to preform an Extrude, just a good idea. All you need is a valid profile. The video will show you I placed the tangent constraints in either order.

Edit: The order of applying any sketch constraint may move other unconstrained entries but normally you can simply drag them back in place.

Hello Fusion forum,

Working on sketch.

Need to make sure the lines at the bottom of and to the right of the circle are tangent to the circle.
1. Click on tangent Constraint
2. Click on line
3. Click on circle.
Result

So the process is reversed. That is, the circle is clicked first then the line.
Same result.
Have tried several other variations.
Have discovered, the hard way, that for the sketch to result in a complete profile that can be Extruded the lines and curves must be tangent.
How can the line be tangent to the circle?

Thanks.

Allen Pitts
Dallas TX

My very first question after opening the file is: Why is the timeline disabled?

As a beginner, you should always have the timeline enabled!

My second question is: Why is the origin located somewhat arbitrarily to the upper left of the sketch, with nothing in the sketch being constrained or dimensioned to it?

My third question is: Why is that sketch severely under-constrained and completely un-dimensioned?

It isn't a surprise that things go haywire with the very basics not taken care of!

Edit: I see that you had the dimension hidden. That's another thing I would not recommend for a beginner!

Here is how I would approach fixing that sketch:

<video-js data-video-id="6365366211112" data-account="6057940548001" data-player="default" data-embed="default" class="vjs-fluid" controls="" data-application-id="" style="width: 100%; height: 100%;"></video-js>
(view in My Videos)
