Been having an issue for the past few months, when stitching a bunch of surfaces together to make a solid. Once the solid is made, like half of the surfaces become transparent with no color. Trying to add an Appearance to the transparent surfaces does not change anything.

Normally when you stitch to a solid and it looks line you have solids, the normals correct themselves. Only thought is do any surfaces cross and form self intersections in the body? Not sure this is the problem or if Fusion would warn you and allow you to stitch.

Just did a test on something that's obviously got self intersections and you do get transparent faces. So might be the problem.

OK, Now it seems that the whole drawing is corrupt. If I roll back my history marker, all of my drawings that come after the history marker are still in the sketch menu and accessible.

And now there are multiple instances of the same surface being created out of nowhere. I was trying to go back and re-draw and make new surfaces and all of a sudden once I was done making a few surfaces, it just re-created ALL the internal surfaces that were transparent before, and now I have 2 copies of the original surfaces. So, 3 copies all the together. If I try to delete the copies I get yellow errors on all my lofts...

This was also after ****ting down F360 and restarting the app

Re: to Hughes tooling

This is different. You actually have a shaded side to your body. Mine is completely non existent other than the lines making the inside geometry.

My recommendation is to always correct the surface normals before stitching. However, even when the surface normals are OK I have experienced the body completely vanishing in the viewport in a number of models.

As @HughesTooling and @TrippyLighting report - the surface normals are normally automatically corrected when stitched to a solid.

In the early days of Fusion - I used to always manually correct before stitching.

In past couple of years I have only seen issues when the bounding edges were ambiguous.

Remember - the computer cannot see. It is only following some algorithm.

What is obvious to us visually might have no logical meaning to the algorithm.

Perhaps @jeff_strater can offer to take a non-disclosure look at the geometry.

Diagnosing issues like this helps improve the algorithm.

Edit: For others who find this thread via a Search...

a Surface has a front side and a backside.

After stitching into a solid - we no longer need to see the backside of the solid body Face, so to speed things up there is no need to shade (appearance) the backs of the faces. But if the face normal is for some reason incorrect we cannot see it because we are looking at the unshaded back face. There are a couple of ways to test if this is the issue involving steps to get a look at the incorrect front side of the face. But I can envision (pun intended) if the geometry is corrupted - the simple test might not work.

When using Reverse Normal - note the different colors on the same surface for front side and back side.

If I remember correctly - in early versions of Fusion it used to display this front side/back side colors without having to go into Reverse Normal. To me this is a regression in functionality.

In the other CAD programs that I use - the Workplanes also have a front side and a back side that makes flipping entire sketches easy.
