I've found that even though I name a body, the name I give it doesn't port across to the flat pattern?

Fusion just gives the flat pattern a generic designation, such as Body1?

What gives?

This seems like a pretty basic requirement.

I was not able to reproduce this. When I created a flat pattern, it brought the body name along from the folded part:

You issue is caused because you are naming your Sheet Metal Body AFTER you have created the flat pattern. Name you sheet metal body then either create your flat pattern, or if you already have one, delete it and create it again.

Ok,

Understood, but why should that matter?

I should be able to change and alter any name at any step in the creation
process and expectedly it should update to every instance of that part? I
see this as a bug.

the flat pattern is a different body from the folded model. Once created, it has an independent existence. While I understand your request, if Fusion did that (forced the two bodies to have the same name), then you would be prevented from naming them something different. And others would probably consider that a bug.

Color me confused, then.

You say it can't have the same name, and yet it does as long as it's named at a specific point in the design stage.

So it really comes down to not wanting to make an effort to make it work both ways.

Got it.

Consider it closed, then.

sorry, that is not what I intended to convey. They CAN have the same name, but their names are maintained separately. So, when you first create the flat pattern, it WILL have the same name as the folded body. But, from that point on, they are different objects, and so CAN have different names - nothing is tying those two body names together after creation.
