Hello I have been trying to convert this 3d scan of some molding on a concrete wall and when I upload the quad mesh into fusion it keeps giving me a mesh is not closed error. I have tried to repair it but the repair tool just break the mesh. I need to be able to eventually convert this to a solid form to get CNC'd. So what I can do to fix this and get this mesh into a solid?

Hi @derekQ2WCG

The quad mesh in the beginning of the video looks good, the subsequent meshs after not so much. It's hard to know from the video, if you can please upload the mesh file. The mesh in order to convert must be clean and water tight. A scan many times has rough edges, large holes, reversed normals, and overlapping surfaces Fusion has a hard time interpreting this ambiguous data. That said you can run a CNC toolpath on the mesh as is or you can take the mesh to another software (meshmixer) and clean it up and modify it. Another suggestion I've seen is to redraw the entire thing native in Fusion, this only works if you can redraw it. With time and effort you'd be surprised at what you can draw in Fusion 360.

Best of Luck,

Here is the file. The end goal is to basically have a box with the scanned surface as one of the faces but I have yet to figure out how to do that.

Yes this is very close I just need to orient the face so it is parallel with the ground plane and have the box coming out of the other side of the face. How did you go about getting this far? I am pretty new to fusion and I have been pulling my hair out over this for over a day.

This is perfect! Thank you very much. I will be using inches but know that I have it in that form I can change the units and scale it to the detentions I need. It would be great if you got a video of the process or just details on how you did this that would be very appreciated sine I will be doing this somewhat frequently for work.
