This software is making me crazy

Nothing here works fine. Not even ONE tool can fullfil its purpose without encountering a short limit in a direction or another. Not ONE tool works fine with every options proposed. In 80% of cases extrusions doesn't detect end surfaces. There is like nothing going well with this crap. If anyone has ever worked on a reliable software like Solidworks, moving to something like this utter garbage will necessarily end into hairs pulled out.

Most of all, this terrible software made me encounter crashes like I have never encountered before with 27 years working on computers. PC freezing down with no solution at all. Impossible to even shut it down by keeping the power button down. I had to pull the power out. Happened 5 times. I have never experienced anything like that EVER.

And to top it all, cloud solutions are terrible and the way Autodesk made it out for Fusion 360 really feels like this Apple mentality just trying to suck everything possible out of your property while pretending for better security and ease of use.

I am changing to a real software ASAP and will never touch this crap again.

Fusion 360 is definitely made for casual beginners. If you are a professionnal into 3D modeling, pass your way. Fusion 360 will make you loose more time and possibilities than it will save money.

It's like the 30$ drill and the professionnal drill. One is made for the guy who installs a shelf once a year. The other one is a working tool.

Fusion 360 is definitely the 30$ drill. It is cheap and it works like so.

Sad to hear that you don't like fusion.

But...

Half a year ago you posted that you will switch back to solidworks.

If you hate fusion that much, no one's forcing you to stay.

Use the software you are most comfortable with.

For me personally, I think that you get an enormous amount of functionality.

Especially for the price.

If i want to buy all the CAM, CAD, Draft, etc. -Modules I use, I would have to pay at least 20 times the money i pay for fusion.

You sound a lot like a person that always has a big beefy workstation at his employer.

Now you installed a cad/cam software on your crappy laptop and now you are disappointed that it does not run well.

In fact I don't yet have the money to purchase Solidworks. Belive me, as soon as I have it, I will.

The beefy wokstation you are talking about sits right in my bedroom and its the same that runed Solidwork perfectly back when I had the educationnal license of my school.

Now I finished my studies. I was then looking for a temporary solution to be able to work on my projects meanwhile.

I choosed Fusion 360, as you said : for its price. I doesn't do anything well so I am stuggling with it. I can progress, spending 10 times the time it should take and making a lot of compromise but that's the only thing I have for now. In a way I am quite thankful to be able to modelize for this price. What kinda made me write this post is all those articles comparing solidworks to fusion 360 like they were concurrents. All those threads are just sponsorised by Autodesk and it is impossible to react to them.

Those two softwares aren't concurrent and should just not be compared.

I don't know you and you don't know me. Maybe let's just not start to judge each others because you sound like some employee of Autodesk paid to defend this poor program on the forum.

Im a bit confused by the "...27 years..." of experience, if all you ever had was a educationnal license.🤔

There are problems with fusion and people should not ignore or defend them, but your Post went a little bit to much in the other direction

No I can't sorry. This is my personnal work and ideas and I cannot just post them on a forum.

This garbage program already ruined this day like many others so I am neither spending a single more minute creating a file just to show you.

My "Biffy" computer has crashed down more time today on the same history rebuild than it has since I built it up. That doesn't need a any .f3d to understand.

As you are trying to defend the crappy 360thing, why don't you show us the crazy work you do with the numerous functionalities of this program instead ?

It's more like security issues and how will I achieve my work with a program freezing my system every time I try to rebuild a blended edge.

It's crazy how you guys can't defend your dear fusion360 without attacking me on a personnal level xD

Just show us how well it works for you !

That's the only thing you can do to save your cheap baby at this point.

If you want to help me, send me a Solidworks license key so I can finish my work in a decent amount of time without damaging my workstation.

Is the computer crashing the only issue that you are experiencing?

I am running on an 8-year old computer and I can't remember the last time Fusion crashed.

From this evidence alone - I suspect there is a hardware issue on your end.

There may be an hardware issue on my side. That's a point. The thing is that only Fusion360 had my "hardware issue" showing up. That's crazy no ? Seems like to all the fabulous functionalities this software has, it can scan PCs for hidden hardware issues !

Plus, the fact that you work on a 8 years old computer kind of show up that you aren't a professionnal into 3D modeling. Then, how can you defend a program in a field that you don't understand a thing about ?

My 8 year old computer is my personal home computer.

At work I have brand new computers (73 total in three labs and my office).

I also run SOLIDWORKS, Autodesk Inventor Professional, Creo... ...and sometimes AutoCAD.

I've been running these CAD programs since they were first introduced.

I am good - really good at this field of modeling geometry.

Where did you get any idea that I am "defending Fusion"?

All I asked is to take the discussion to actual geometry, but rather than Attach geometry - you have chosen to (incorrectly) judge my credentials.

I just did. I am kind of impressed by those vise-grip pliers he did. Good job. What about developping a product ? Doing a model from an existing part is something. Developping a model, involves having to modifiy the model afterwards. Sometimes its easy, it can be just about changing dimensions. Sometimes it requires to modifiy how functions interact with eachothers, reorder history. Solidworks is just impressive into this task and prove incredible accuracy into the architecture of deep layers in the program. Fusion 360 just can't manage that kind of task. Like many others. As you guys seem quite passionated about this program, I will take the time to do a dummy file for each problem that Ill be able to remember. Probably not today but as soon as I have some time for this.
