Fusion 360 sketch dimension not showing up.

I am pretty new to fusion and when I first installed fusion and began a sketch lines with dimensions would automatically appear and I could easily edit the dimension of the line by clicking on the value. Now whenever I attempt to create a sketch no dimensions appear when I am sketching. I have tried everything to get them back without success. I have reinstalled fusion multiple times and tried every setting without luck.

I used the fusion 360 cleaner utility before reinstalling fusion.

@kj6bab - can you add some more details about what is not working? Dimensions will not appear in a sketch unless you either:

create them manually, using the Dimension command - or -
enter a value during geometry creation (for example, when creating a rectangle). If you just drag the extents of the rectangle, no dimension will be created. However, if you type in a value, a dimension will be created.

These behaviors have not changed in many years. If you are seeing cases where you enter a value and no dimension is created, we would be interested in seeing a video of that.

I've noticed a few times lately a dimension goes missing and I need to toggle dimension visibility off/on to get it back.

I'm having the same issue and no luck. It's not helpful that the answer is "use the dimension tool" as I can't find any "dimension tool". Tutorials say "Right click on the sketch and select 'Show Dimensions'", however when I right-click on a sketch, 'Show Dimensions' isn't there. Clicking on "Show Dimensions" in the Sketch Palette doesn't do anything either. It's driving me crazy - every documentation/video says it's simple, but for me it's simply impossible.

Thanks - if I first create a sketch, and I try to right click in the object tree, nothing happens - that is, no menu appears at all.

If I finish the ketch and reopen and right click on it, I get a menu like this

If I right click in the 3d view, I do see "Show Dimensions" but it doesn't work and I lose all my grids

Your Fusion 360 display does not look right. Go to the upper right corner of the Fusion 360 screen and left mouse click on the "?" mark. Then left mouse click on the "About" menu option.(Read on below graphic)

In the resulting dialog, please attach a screen capture of it showing the version number for sure. Your version should be as shown below. The version number is always the same regardless of the Active Plan type (License). Send what you see back.

Fusion 360 application runs on Windows 11 just fine. Lets try this, create a sketch of a circle and a rectangle. If you could record a video of you doing this, that would help, if not, that is OK. Add a couple of dimensions to this sketch, it does not matter what. Next, select the File menu, then select the Export command from that menu and in the resulting dialog box, direct it to a location on your hard drive. Create a reply post on this Forum thread and using the Attachments section below where you type your message, Browse and add the file you exported. Send the reply, I want to look at it.

Show Sketch Dimension, worked on your file.

Edit Sketch Dimension can be done in 2 separate working environments,

Modelling Window and Editing sketch window.

To add new dimensions, you need to be editing the sketch.

Thanks - this is really helpful. I think what is extremely confusing to me is that the contents of the right mouse menu seem to change arbitrarily, and I don't understand what the rules are for what the software decides to display in the menu. E.g.

Many times, particularly when editing the sketch, I get no menu at all. Are there some visual cues that I'm missing that indicate what items will be present in the menu?

You only get that menu when you're not in sketch edit and you have a profile selected like this.

If you press escape so nothing's selected you'll get the full menu. If you're not seeing the full menu it will be because you have something selected or you are in sketch edit mode.
