Naming a 3D dimension to reference elsewhere

Say I create a Sketch of a Rectangle that is 'A' x 'B'. Then I Extrude it. Then I Shell [Outside] it, with Outside Thickness 'C'. The resulting 3D shape is '[A+2C] x [B+2C]'. I'd like to create a user Parameter called "Exterior Width" with value [A+2C] , and another user Parameter called "Exterior Length" with value [B+2C]. But I do not want to write those equations directly in the Parameter editor, because the operation (in this case, Shell) does that calculation for me, and if I get it wrong or it otherwise gets out of sync then everything will break. This is essentially the concept of a "Driven Dimension", but on the 3D shape. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks!

David

Definitely out of sync with that math - the resulting 3D shape volume is '[A+2C] x [B+2C]. What is the use case, normally Fusion will do all that.

Might help…

Hahaha, I've accidentally made my point stronger that it's likely the manual expression is incorrect vs the actual geometry that is generated by the Feature:). I've now corrected the original post.

The use case is now I want to use that exterior dimension for something else. E.g., make a second component that has a Sketch where an edge is the same as that outside dimension in the first part.

My question is simply how to get the exterior measurement of the part after the Shell [Outside] into a named parameter that I can use elsewhere.

That's - write the formula into the parameter there is nothing existing in your statements to reference, so it's calculated by you. (A + 2 C)

Might help...

But there is something to reference, it's just that Fusion doesn't seem to make it referenceable. Right? I just want to make sure the question is clear and this is just a limitation of the way Fusion works that it's not possible to do what I want.
