Show Dimensions / Locked Sketch

Trying to get my drawing to show dimensions so it can be used. Found a video on how to do that. Said to open sketches, right click on their titles and select Show Dimensions. The few that got posted are really faint and the last one, Sketch 5, I can't even touch because Fusion arbitrarily slapped a red padlock on it. Anyone please ?

OK irregardless, I can't get it to post dimensions. In the end, unless we are doing artwork, we need dimensioned drawings. I don't have any.

@cmoher3 - your design never made it to your post. You cannot attach files from an email reply - you will have to go to the forum web site to attach your design.

However, some info that might be of interest to you is in your image. You are actively editing a sketch. Other sketches' geometry (including dimensions) will be shown in dimmed graphics, so you can easily distinguish between active sketch geometry and other sketch geometry.

From this image, it looks like you do not have history turned on in this design. If so, why not? If you do show sketch dimensions, editing them will not affect any consuming features.

And, as @g-andresen pointed out - the lock just indicates fully constrained. This sketch is still fully editable.

I did not consciously turn history off. Like so many other things I just go with whatever Fusion wants to do.

The Timeline is Timeline history is on.

Sketch1 is not fully defined (missing Tangents and dimensions).

The dimension that is there does not make logical sense.

You should have STOPPED there and ask questions about how to fully define a sketch.

Blue lines should keep you awake at night...

Simple sketch - simple Shell.

With the BORN Technique - extraneous workplanes are seldom used...

I only saw one sketch dimension in your entire part.

You should fully define your sketches.

There is no Sketch5 in the file that you Attached.
