I just want to upload a .f3d file and see if its valid - first time using and can't get6 started

I am new to the free version or any version. I have asked someone to help me get some BODY into a dxf or svg so I can carve it using my cnc router. I expect I'll need gcode generated from the .f3d file but as yet I have not been able to load it into my copy of fusion 3d. Don't know if I need to change my settings or anything as all I have done is "open with fusion 3d" from my folder. Is there a trick? I have attached the .f3d file and the dxf and svg files. I am wanting to learn fusion 360 but I hope to be able to use a file I know so I have some sort of basis. Can anyone help with this?

Not sure of your problem. Just start Fusion, then from the file menu pick Open, on dialog pick open from my computer and open the file, works for me.

I did notice the mesh is a quad mesh. The manufacture workspace will not work with quod meshes so make sure you have your preferences set to triangulate meshes on import.

Looking at the mesh it's quite low res.

You might want to try using the DXF and trace in the manufacture workspace. When you use InsertDXF it might look like Fusion has crashed, just give it some time and it will import. Might take 2 or 3 minutes.

are there other file type like svg or even the eps? I have a bigger jpg

First, don't attach pictures, you can just paste them into the message or use Insert Photo from the toolbar.

Did you use insert DXF from the Insert menu or did you upload? There is also insert SVG but you might have trouble with scaling SVG files. That said SVG can be quite good as it locks the sketch on import.

Hi,

1. For an acceptable result, the vector file would first have to be freed from disturbing elements.
2. the same applies to other vector formats such as SVG.
3. in the attachment you will find the f3d file with your motif.
