Thanks for taking the time to show this! Looks like a better way to go about it! One thing I'm still stuck on is how to add materials to my image and find the volume. On your file it will let me drag any property onto it and it will change easily. On my sketch when I drag a new property onto it nothing happens, and this also means I can't find the volume. Any ideas? I've attached my file incase you want to look. Thanks!

Hi everyone,

Im fairly new to this software and any help on this would be really appreciated! Im trying to use the parallel constraint in a 3D sketch without much luck. I want the two highlighted lines in my screenshot to be equal/symmetrical. I had hoped that there would be some smart way of it snapping to the extruding 40.00 marker line from the other point, but it isn't happening!

Let me know if I'm missing something - thanks!

Thanks for the reply. Even without the vertical constraint I can't get it to snap inline with my other point at 40.00. I have to draw 2 vertical lines, one from 0 - 40.00 to allow a node to connect my blue line where I want it, then one from 40.00-60.00 for my other connection. Works fine but I was wondering if I am missing something there, seems a bit clunky!

It’s clunky because it’s a 3d sketch.

Two 2d sketches, and half as much work, would be a better option.

One Sketch If you knew what Draft angle to use.

Just a thought....

Ok will do! Heres what I've come up with - its a design for a sound diffuser, idea would be to 3D print it as a mould. Am I going about it the right way? Just sketching with the lines etc. Next task is to add surfaces and find the volume etc. have seen the 'boundary fill' tool but it won't work for me, I suspect I need to work out how to add the surfaces first... when I drag a surface on it doesn't add it, still stays as this colourless sketch!

What I have now:

If there is a better way for this sort of thing or I have done anything stupid please let me know! Fair enough if I maybe need a new thread at this point!

Well you found out how to do that the hard way.

Along the same lines as this, forget you ever heard of 3d sketch.

Run up and down the time line (eyeballs,) for how to do both of my versions of the original pic.

Same thing with one or 2 sketches, and different tools, 2 examples....

Now I would use 16 cubes, and the Draft tool, can incline the top faces, when done combine join them.

Might help....

The File is always better to address the actual data. I will not have Desktop access for the rest of this week.

Fusion is a sketch based solid modeller. Basic sketches are fed into solid (or surface) Tools.

As mentioned I would use a suitable solid box, incline the top face, many ways to do that, make one of each individual, (differing draft angles?) then, Copy paste and orientate as many as you need. When done, amalgamate the bodies into one.

My File is totally solid, but patch and stitch surfaces could work. Generally, not until you have a solid can you manipulate the properties.
