cutting body with another body with rotation

Hope this makes sense to everyone, the body in blue is what i want to cut with. the circle sketch to the right of the blue body is the original position.

i am trying to make a cut in the main grey component with the "cylindrical blue body" 45 degrees to the circle sketch on the right - as you can see in the screenshot. I cannot work out how to make a rotating cut with the blue cylindrical body into the main grey body.

looking for some help on how best to achieve this seemingly simple operation.

Fusion 360 does not support using a body to perform a cutting operation at the present time. If you post your model and maybe there is a similar solution using another technique. If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section of a forum post to attach it.

Edit: You also need to define the "rotational" axis of your desire cut, is it around the sketch circle perimeter or something else?

this is the location I could use for the rotation (marked in blue),

is there any other alternative methods I could use / research to get the desired result?

You have not attached you model. It is very hard to try a good solution without it. Instructions are in my previous post.

i found this on another topic somewhere on redit,

i cant understand what its trying to tell me though

"Create a plane at the center of rotation of the part you are rotating, create a sketch there and project the outline of the part. Then revolve cut this shape around the center of rotation"

This is what i resorted to but its less than ideal. not very smooth but essentially 50 versions of the cylinder body made into a pattern and then each one cut from the main grey component.

leaves with the desired effect but its not smooth at all, not sure how this will effect my part when printing.

Hi,

1. As @jhackney1972 has already said, bodies are not possible for such cutting actions.
2. What function is to be realised with it in the end?

RE question

1) yes i understand that, but i dont understand why this isnt something thats been implemented in fusion.. its so basic and id have though essential for this type of work?

2) do you mean the function of the recess i am trying to make? its for a vial to be slid into the part and then clicked into place at the other end.. without the cavity, there would be no space for me to maneuver the vial to get the alignment needed if thats makes sense?

ok, thanks for the workaround, your version looks way better than what i came up with, albeit beyond my skill level so i will be looking into that more to break down what you have done.

This functionality exists in Autodesk Inventor Professional.
