I just lost about 2 hours of work when an autosave failed to complete. I had two documents open, one that I care about and one that I don't. When restarting Fusion360 the recover dialog offered me the chance to recover the file that I don't care about, and one other file that I had not touched for weeks that wasn't even open when the crash occurred.

If I'm reading this log correctly, the crash was in the autosave procedure itself. So I'm assuming the old recovery file is removed before the current autosave is finalized, which seems very risky. Is there any way to disable the autosave completely? I think I would rather practice vigilant manual saving rather than get in the habit of relying on a safety net that might actually be counterproductive.

<LI-CODE lang="general">20220402T201159 I 6572 Started Autosave for: twinhopper220330 v21.

There is no auto-save in Fusion 360. It's called "recovery save", and the intention is to help recover information lost from a crash. It has well known limitations, such as not creating recovery files if you are actively working in Fusion.

The time is configurable in preferences:

For Fusion 360, the intended way to capture your design progress is to press the save button.

This will store your changes safely in the cloud where you can always find them.

Tip: add a description to your saved version for future reference.

Old versions can be opened and promoted to the top version, or saved as new designs.

Here is an article telling how to find recovery files if they aren't listed in the recovery file dialog.
