I have to take exception to your logic. Without the small fillet, between the adjacent flats, Fusion 360 sees them as separate tangent areas and cannot join them together easily. The small fillet simply is there to make them one continuous surface.

The tangent relationship was long overdue and greatly appreciated, BUT there is a problem if you attempt to use that feature on a hexagonal cam (and maybe other instances with corners). The animation of the axle will show the proper motion and relationship of the follower and hex cam, but if you manually set the revolution to 30 degrees (corner) the program gives an error message and the cam and follower overlap. It does not recognize the corner as part of the outer surface to which the follower should remain tangent.

All you need to to is break the sharp corners with some small fillets and it will work fine.

Yes, I could add small fillets, but what if I want to maintain the sharp corners as is? The tangent relationship should still work. Thanks for responding, though.

Again, that is not how the tangent relationship SHOULD work. The exterior surface is one complete perimeter. The animation of the revelation works fine and does not stop at the corner. It's only when manually setting the angle at the corner does the program barf and cause the overlap. The software should be smart enough to move the follower up to the corner and not have the conflict - small fillet or not. This problem does not occur if I use an older method of setting the home and rest position of the follower on the flat surface, set contact all, and rotate manually to the corner. But that was BEFORE the release of the tangent relationship feature.

Yes, but it is NOT tangent. It's called a tangent relationship, not an "adhere to continuous perimeter" relationship.
