Yes, I have the joints setup for the pinion and slider. The Pinion tooth meshing circle would be 1.88. I used that value and it does move correctly. Though it looks like my starting position is off by a little.

Thank you.

Hello,

I've looked at several tutorials on how to create a motion link for a rack and pinion. However, I am working in imperial and all of them are using metric. I tried to calculate my gear's values using metric but, I have only gotten close to the value by enter random numbers. I am using McMaster-Carr's parts 5172T56, and 5174T1 for this motion link. Any information for getting this to work would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Kevin Milligan.

Presuming you have the Revolve Joint on the Pinion, and a Slider Joint on the rack.

You need to find / know the circumference of the Pinion tooth meshing circle.

Motion Link is 360 deg for the pinion, and Circumference distance for the slider.

Might help....

Drive Joint will adjust the meshing, when you know the value of adjustment it can be saved permanently.
