Errors in extruding a profile that varies with changing parameters

Hi! I've started making parametric designs that allow for quick and somewhat easy changes that are baked into designs.

Unfortunately, I noticed that some of these changes can cause a Profile to vary enough that a later extrusion fails.

For some reason, the added isolated regions are either included or ignored (I have attempted to edit the sketch and at one point redid it to no avail) as part of the profile being extruded.

I've attached a video of the first failed attempt demonstrating what's going wrong and have attached the .f3d file of my latest iteration. In the .f3d file, I labelled each of the parameters in use but the one going wrong is the parameter named "n_slots" (I added a comment explaining that its the number of slots holes there should be on the design).

The faulty extrusion occurs on "Extrude 3" from a profile created in "Sketch 3".

(also my projects and work make way more sense than when I started, but they're still pretty bad and likely difficult to follow, apologies in advance if you look at the file itself)

Yep, seen this before,

Made a couple of changes. No matter what you do, you have to edit then confirm the last extrude. Bit simpler than the way you did it. Not seen a way around that until Patterns and Combine can see and join the new bodies like the recent mirror changes, can do now.

Your sketches had too many duplicate or overlaying lines, only one construction line left.

Sketch patterns are not recommended, when model patterns will do it.

Double check your parameter changes, I think they will all work.

Ah that is a much better order of operations! Thank you so much.

And yeah, I definitely need to get better at using only necessary sketch components.

I have previously found sketch patterns to be easier to understand and use, but model patterns are very effective for purposes such as this, and so will be using them more into the future! Thank you!

This is for me the main argument for creating pattern in feature mode.
