I'm using the latest HAAS DS 30-Y post, but they all have the same problem. OD/ID are recognised, but not Z direction.

I'm trying to post a canned rough boring cycle for the sub-spindle of my lathe, and Fusion is blocking me from specifying negative stock to leave on the Z axis. Problem is, that if I leave the value as positive, is comes out as positive when I post, which is wrong. Is this a shortcoming of Fusion, or is it my post?

I need to know, because if I edit my post, and they decide to fix the problem in Fusion somewhere down the line, it will cause me further grief.

Hmm, I don't think I've seen that before. Could you share your Fusion file?
File > Export > Save to local folder, return to thread and attach the .f3d file in your reply/

@akash.kamoolkar is this something we intentionally block?

I'm not sure why we made the decision to disallow it back in the day. I'll make a ticket to allow it.

Thanks! While you're at it, It would be great to see the option to select between type 1 and type 2 canned roughing cycles...

I can't share the specific file I was working on, but here's a dummy part, just to show the problem.

Try posting first, and you'll see that the "W" value is positive.

Fusion won't allow negative values in "Stock to Leave" with canned turning cycles, which is required when working with a sub spindle.

You should not have to manipulate the "stock to leave" sign in Fusion. The post processor should output the correct sign based on ID / OD and spindle direction.

Hello rileyTGM27

The value in Fusion is just the amount of stock to leave, not a direction.

Haas designed their sub spindle machines so the Z is mirrored when going to the sub spindle. I believe the code is G14 for the Sub Spindle. They did this so you can take code that ran on the main spindle, add the G14 and the same code will run on the sub spindle. This makes a positive "W" leave stock on either spindle. There are machine which don't mirror which would need to be reversed which would be handled in the post processor.

Hopefully that helps. Let me know.

Ok, I understand the post handling it, but why block negative values? It doesn't make any sense, as Fusion allows them for non-canned roughing.
