Hello-

I've tried importing some old, very simple Pro/Engineer files into Fusion 360, and while they import, they don't appear to be modifiable in any easy way. For instance, with a natively created simple revolution shape, I can 'edit' the dimensions of the part by clicking 'edit feature'. For the imported file, nothing like that exists. Is this normal? If so, how do you modify the shape/dimensions of imported parts/assemblies?

Thanks,

-Tom

Please attach your imported file as well as the original. You may have to zip the original to attach it. If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.

You file opens just like the one you supplied so that is not an issue. You must remember this file opens with a Base Solid Feature only, no history. In the Screencast I show a few Base Feature editing commands as I enter the Base Feature environment. Make sure you activate Capture Design History first thing so you an capture all design changes going forward. It is also a easy way to enter the Base Feature Modeling mode. Always remember, you can use any and all Fusion 360 modeling tools moving forward to add features but only the Base Feature editing commands to edit the existing features in the imported solid.
